I had been a fan of the XYZT.ai data visualisation and analysis platform since it was introduced to me around 2021. It provided easy ways to visualise and analyze very large volumes of AIS vessel tracking data on a GIS display,. Something that we could not do on other tools. It had become an invaluable tool for analysis of all our AIS data sources totalling hundreds of million rows of data each day. For this webinar I prepared some custom data collection scripts using python that was first generated in chatGpt and then fine tuned by me. These scripts pulled sets of data from Spire Maritime graphQL APIs. First they pulled the latest AIS reports for each vessel in a commercial category, such as crude oil tankers, LNG gas carriers or containerships, then for those vessels it extracted the predicted destinations, routes and ETA for the vessels which had such available.

Finally the scripts merged the data into CSV format that was easily displayed in the XYZT.ai tool.

For the purposes of the webinar I manually ran scripts that used the XYZT API to load data into the webinar specific project.

This then provided a relatively live data set that could be used for the webinar.
